Water Tank Repairs

How will you repair my tank?

After 20 years of experience and trial and era we have found that a PVC food grade liner is usually the only way to repair your tank long-term no matter what people say as inside the concrete is steel holding the structure together . Once moisture gets to the steel it continues to rust and expand no matter what you put into the crack or on top of the crack, the steel will continue to rust and expand and that product therefore will breakaway from the concrete surface. Also other methods such as crack injection deteriorate and cannot be done in the base of the tank from the outside.

The tank is drained and thoroughly cleaned internally, A layer of Geo fabric is installed in the tank to protect the liner from the concrete surface and sharp edges. We then get a PVC foodgrade liner and install it around the top edge internally around the walls of the tank via pins. The tank therefore hangs from the top of the wall and is one piece, new holes are cored through the wall of the tank if needed and replumbed to existing lines and fittings. You are able to put water in the tank right away..

The liners we use Australian made and of the highest quality on the market our supplier is the only company in Australia to supply you with a 10 year manufacturers warranty if installed by us.

Below is a photo of a tank that has had a liner installed by someone else who did not assess the crack correctly. The tank was filled up and split apart but the problem was that the Rio inside the concrete had rusted completely and the tank pulled apart. This was able to be pulled back together while the water was in the tank with steel bands. We do recommend steel bands on most tanks but if you get onto the crack early enough a lot of times steel bands are not required.

Every crack no matter how big or small is serious!

All cracks are serious no matter how small!

Whether the crack is leaking or not, or no matter how big or how small - All cracks should be dealt to as soon as they appear as the oxygen and the water will get to the steel in the concrete and begin to cause rust. Over time the steel will let go and the tank will open up and will be irreparable as you can see from the photos below.

ALL CRACKS REQUIRE IMMEDIATE AND SERIOUS ATTENTION IF YOU ARE WANTING TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF YOUR TANK.

This tank below could of been saved with bands
